Progressivism is a 1-word oxymoron

Let's play a game. I'm going to say 2 words. What I want you to do is remember the first things that pop into your mind,

What are the 2 words? ‘Progressive’ and ‘Conservative’.

I bet your definitions went something like this:

Progressive: “Promoting or favoring progress toward better conditions or new policies, ideas, or methods”. The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language.

Conservative: “Averse to change and holding traditional values”. Compact Oxford English Dictionary.

I also bet you've never given these (your) definitions a second thought, that you believe Progressives (aka, liberals) look towards the future, while conservatives live in the past.

Well, dud/ette, you'd be wrong.

Today, it's Progressives who are mired in the past, who resist change, and who are bereft of new ideas, while Conservatism is dynamic, vibrant, and contemporaneous.

Yes, dear reader, the tables have been turned. ‘Progressivism’ has become a one-word oxymoron.

What happened that caused this ethos swapping? The answer is simple: Shit (aka, Reality) happened. When reality finally decided to vet Progressivism, reality decided that the tenets of Progressivism were fatally flawed.

Slowly at first but with exponentially increasing inertia as time went along, reality battering-rammed into the foundations of Progressivism, and eventually collapsed its Temple. When Progressives realized that their Temple was destroyed, they attempted to resurrect it by reassembling its foundation stones. These foundations stones were ancient, some quarried during the Renaissance and Reformation, but most in the early 19th century when nascent Progressives rebelled against the destitution wrought by the Industrial Revolution.

On those foundation stones, Progressives built an awesome Temple. For 2 centuries, the center of Western civilization was their Temple. Every major revolution, every major movement that radically changed society, and every inevitability were spawned in their Temple.

Unfortunately, Progressives became habituated to their successes. From their perspective, they had never been wrong. Therefore, they believed, they could never be wrong. Their priests casually wore the vestments of Absolute Certainty.

Well, they were wrong. Reality happened. Their Temple lies in ruins. Today, Progressivism is bankrupt. Progressives live utopian fantasies, not in reality. The disconnect between the promises of Progressivism and its actuality could not be more rupturous.

This theme and others will be explored in depth on this blog, using facts, actuality, reality, objectivity, logic, and ratiocinations -- in other words, everything that modern-day Progressives do not use.

Get prepared to be confounded. Today, the remorselessly imperative forces radically transforming society are being spawned and championed by conservatives of an entirely different ilk, such as myself. Today, we conservatives, not Progressives, are orchestrating progress towards a better future. They are the ones living in the cold, dead past. We conservatives own the present, and control our future.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Get prepared to be presented said extraordinary evidence. When you are so presented, I hope you'll sing our song with us.

You may say I'm a dreamer,

but I'm not the only one,

I hope some day you'll join us,

And the world will live as one.
